With their final pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens opted for one last defender with the 224th overall pick. The club selected defenceman Rasmus Bergqvist from Skelleftea in the SHL, where he spent last season with their under-20 team.
Bergqvist stands 6′ 2″ tall and weighs in at 181 lbs, and posted four goals and eight assists in 36 games.
As he just turned 19 years old, it is like that Bergqvist will spend most of next season with the under-20 team again, with an eye towards breaking into the SHL club for a handful of games.
