After selecting Aatos Koivu at 70th overall, the Canadiens were right back on the clock at 78th overall. With that pick the club landed centre Logan Sawyer from the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL.

Sawyer posted 78 points in 59 games last year for the Bandits, who moved from the AJHL to the BCHL in the middle of the season. Sawyer will be heading off to Providence in two years’ time.

The Canadiens now have a little break before being back on the clock with the 102nd overall pick in the next round.
